Biography--

Frank Hudson, 94, of Waterloo, Iowa, died peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2016, at his home. He was born February 10, 1922 in Honey Grove, TX, son of Thomas and Annie Hall Hudson. Frank married E. Louise Rekers in June 1944, in Newport News, VA. They later divorced. He then married Norma Baker in July 1948 in Missouri. She died April 1992. Frank re-married E. Louise Rekers Dutler July 4, 1992 in Waterloo. She died September 2, 2014.

Frank graduated from Lubbock High School (Texas) in 1941. He served in the United States Army Air Corps in the European Theater during World War II. He flew in 22 combat missions over enemy-occupied Europe. On Thanksgiving Day 1944, his plane was shot down over Germany. He was captured by the Germans and was a POW until the Russians liberated the camp in May 1945. Frank was then honorably discharged from the military in October of 1945.

He re-enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1948 and served until his retirement with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant in 1967. He then worked at the State of Texas Department of Transportation for 14 years as an office manager overseeing keypunch operation and early computer systems. He retired in 1982. Frank was a 50-year member of Arlington Heights Masonic Lodge #1184 A.F. & A.M., Ft. Worth, TX where he was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of First Baptist Church, Waterloo.

His survivors include: two stepdaughters, Deb Dutler of Iowa City and Carol Lynn (Don) Herlacher of Mission, TX; two stepsons, Doug (Meachelle Mehmen) Dutler of Evansdale, IA and Gaylord (Carol Ann) Baker of Canyon City, CO; four grandchildren: Mark and Donald Frank Herlacher, DeAirra Dutler, and Carson Baker; six great-grandchildren: Tehya-Elektra Dutler and Kelly, Daniel, Billy, Matt and Ben Herlacher; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by: his parents; two wives; two sisters, Marie Hodges and Mabel McCellan; a brother, Thomas R. Hudson and a grandson, Daryl Herlacher.
