Biography--

Betty J. Boesen, 82, of Waterloo, died at Pinnacle Specialty Care, Monday, January 2, 2017 of natural causes.

Betty was born October 3, 1934, in Ottumwa, IA, daughter of Harvey and Mary Mather Freshwater. She married Robert "Bob" Boesen May 4, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; he died August 4, 2016.

Betty graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1953 and was a homemaker, an accomplished quilter, seamstress and upholsterer, as well as real estate broker.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church serving as Eucharistic Minister, Catholic Daughters of America and helped with funeral luncheons; member of Keepsake Quilters Guild, Iowa Realtor Association, and Landlord Association of Black Hawk County.

Survivors include: three sons Anthony "Tony" (Sherri) Boesen of Salem, OR; Jerome "Jerry" (Jill) Boesen of Cedar Falls; and Bradley Boesen of Waterloo; daughter Mary (Daniel) Kubicek of Excelsior, MN; four grandchildren: Aaron Boesen of Iowa City, Dana Boesen of Iowa City, Larissa Boesen of Cedar Falls, and Elizabeth Kubicek, Excelsior, MN; brother Donley "Don" (Theresa) Freshwater of Columbia, SC; six sisters in law: Joyce Freshwater of Waterloo, Kathy Freshwater of Kansas City, KS, Mary Ellen Hadachek of Dysart, Barbara (Duane) Schafer of Waterloo, Phyllis Boesen of Waterloo and Beverly Boesen of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Gladys Freshwater; husband; brothers, Earl and John Freshwater; four brothers in law: William “Bill” Boesen, James “Jim” Boesen, Robert Hadachek, and John Van Dorn, sister in law Patricia Van Dorn and nephews, John Van Dorn and Gregory Freshwater.
