Biography--

Phyllis Gericke, 92, of Cedar Falls, died at NewAldaya Lifescapes Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

She was born August 17, 1924 in Rock Falls, daughter of William and Gladys Morse Tibbits. She married Eldon "Dutch" Gericke on December 26, 1943 in Yuma, AZ; he died June 11, 1984. She and Dutch founded the Art Craft Studio in 1949 in Waterloo. She retired in 2001. Phyllis was a founding member and longtime Secretary of the National Ceramic Association.

Survivors include two sons, Randy (Linda) and Joel (Susan), both of Waterloo; three grandchildren: Chad (Lisa) Gericke, Wichita, KS, Andy (Lyndsie) Gericke, Waukee, and Mara Gericke, Round Lake, IL; five great-grandchildren: Brian and Kyle Gericke, Wichita, Cameron Rhines, Round Lake, and Koye and Kenna Gericke, Waukee; five sisters: Betty Lane, Northwood, June Fredrickson, Mason City, Marlys Pederson, West Des Moines, Marlene Jenkins, Longmont, CO, and Tiny Krahduhl, Osage; and two brothers, Wally Tibbits, Manly, and Ed Tibbits, Mason City.

Preceded by: her parents; husband; granddaughter Jodi Gericke; and seven brothers and sisters.
