Betty Segerstrom, 94, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday March 15, at Friendship Village Retirement Center.
She was born September 19, 1922, in Waterloo to Edward and Tena Kottke Blood. She married Charles E. Segerstrom on Aug. 29, 1942, in Forest City. He died Jan. 7, 2004.
Betty graduated from West Waterloo High School in 1940 and Northwestern Seminary, Minneapolis, in Christian education. She served with her husband in full time ministry in Iowa, Nebraska, Montana and Kansas until 1973 and worked as a clerk for Black Hawk County. She was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, where she was director of Kindergarten Sunday School Department.
Survived by: two daughters, Charleen Head of Sun City, Ariz., and Diane Glover of Omaha, Neb.; a son, Bryan (Marilyn) of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: a son, David; two sons-in-law, Dick Glover and Terry Head; an infant brother and sister, Orville and Mary Ann Blood, five brothers, Willis, George, Archie, Thomas and Russell Blood, and four sisters, Viola Haug, Lorraine Ericksen, Caroline Blood and Genevieve Blood.
