4-7 p.m. Monday with 4:00 Rosary Service at Locke Funeral Home and for an hour before services at the church

Biography--

Michael F. Murphy, 80, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, March 16, at Pinnacle Specialty Care, Cedar Falls.

He was born December 28, 1936, in Emmetsburg to Francis and Doris Murphy. He married Sally Salisbury on September 6, 1958, in Emmetsburg; she died December 7, 2011.

He graduated from Emmetsburg High School and served in the U.S. Navy as communications specialist. Michael retired in 1995 from Kmart on University Avenue in Waterloo as store operations manager. After retirement, he drove a River Hills School Bus for eight years and then a Cozy Van for a year. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Survived by: a daughter, Shelly (Dave) Davis of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; a son, Randy (Sherri) of Waterloo; a grandson, Michael Routt of Waterloo; a granddaughter, Maggie Howell of Gulf Breeze; a great-granddaughter, Ava Howell of Gulf Breeze; and a special friend, Minetta Jones of Waverly.

Preceded in death by: an infant son, Michael.
