Obituary--

Jean Rae (Henry) Kammeyer, 85, of Cedar Falls and formerly of Waverly, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, May 31, 2016, at New Aldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

Jean was born on May 6, 1931, in Black Hawk County, Iowa, the daughter of Clark W. and Julia K. (Harum) Henry. She was baptized at the Washington EUB Church and confirmed on March 14, 1954 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Waverly. She attended country school at Mt. Vernon #4, rural Cedar Falls, and graduated from the Cedar Falls High School. Following high school, Jean was an office worker in Cedar Falls, then 3 years' service representative for Telephone Company in Beverly Hills, California.

On January 8, 1954, Jean was united in marriage to Orville W. Kammeyer at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waverly. Jean then worked at Shield Bantam Company, State Bank of Waverly, and Farm Bureau Insurance in Waverly, Iowa.

Jean enjoyed singing and playing guitar, gardening, decorating her home and she designed several of her homes. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family; especially her grandchildren.

Jean's memory is honored by her husband, Orville (O.W.) Kammeyer of Cedar Falls, Iowa; daughter, Sheryl (Brian) Groen of Mingo, Iowa; two grandchildren, Marc (Kara) Groen of Shell Rock, Iowa, Mitch (Jade) Groen of Central City, Iowa; and four great grandchildren, Michael, Miles, William and Levi; and two sisters, Mary Lou Carroll of Waterloo and Helen Barcus of Sebring, Florida. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, and one grandchild.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the New Aldaya Chapel in Cedar Falls, with Pastor Gary Olson officiating. Jean's body has been cremated and burial of cremains will be in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Memorials may be directed to Michael Groen at 1012 Triangle Drive, Shell Rock, Iowa, 50670, collecting for Alzheimer's Association in loving memory of his great grandmother.
