Sarah Elizabeth Staebell, 42, died peacefully Saturday, May 28, 2016 surrounded by family and friends at her home in Parker, Colorado after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer.

Sarah was born March 3, 1974 in Burlington, Iowa to Steve and Becky Slater Staebell. She attended school in New London, Iowa and later Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa completing her Bachelors Degree in Education at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. She later completed her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Phoenix.

Sarah's teaching career began in Burlington, Iowa in 1997. In 1999 she began teaching 5th grade at Northeast Elementary School in Parker, Colorado, a position she held for 15 years until cancer treatments forced her early retirement. In 2006, Sarah was awarded Outstanding Elementary Math Teacher of the Year for Region VII by the Colorado Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

She married Chris Kolker in Guttenburg, Iowa in 1997. They later divorced. In 2007, she married Sean Youngman in Parker, Colorado. They divorced in 2012.

She is survived by her sons, 8-year-old Kade Youngman and 7-year-old Kieren Youngman at home; her parents, Becky and Steve Staebell of Oquawka, Illinois; sisters Jill (David) Viet of Novi, Michigan and Katy (Jamie) Dowell of Conway, Arkansas; by nieces Sydney Dowell and Brynn Viet; and nephews Declan Viet and Reese Dowell; as well as by 33 cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Clifford and Anita Leehey Slater and Michael and Mary Jane Marron Staebell.

Teaching was Sarah's passion. She enjoyed writing, reading, gardening, and traveling. Her most treasured time was being with her sons. Sarah's devotion to Jesus Christ provided her strength during her final years.

A Celebration of Sarah's Life will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:30 am at Crossroads Community Church in Parker, Colorado, with Pastor John Snyder leading the Celebration.

A Memorial Service will also be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 1:00 pm in New London, Iowa. Elliott Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials to the Sarah E. Staebell Trust will provide education funds for her sons.
