Jesse D. Mastain, 84, died suddenly Tuesday noon at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Vogt. Cause of death was a heart attack.

Mr. Mastain was born near Rockford, Illinois, August 23, 1875. He came to the Hudson area as a child with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Mastain. On March 31, 1896 he married Miss Mollie Dickey and the couple began farming on the place that was to be his home 64 years where he passed away.

Three daughters survive: Mrs. Vogt, Mrs. Ruth Dengler of Traer, and Mrs. Elvie Nelsen, also of Traer; also eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, Florence, his parents, five brothers and one sister. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Congregational Church in Reinbeck with burial in the Lincoln Township Cemetery.
