Russell L. "Rusty" Young

Biography--

Russell L. Young, 87, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on April 27, 2016.

He was born September 10, 1928 in Bassett, Iowa, son of Clifford and Ora (Gerry) Young. He married Norma De Bar, November 21, 1947, at Walnut Street Baptist Church, Waterloo; she died March 15, 2016.

Mr. Young graduated from East Waterloo High School in 1946. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1949. He graduated from Prairie Bible Institute, Three Hills, Alberta, Canada; Baptist Bible Seminary, Johnson City, New York, Strasbourg University, Strasbourg, France.

He and his wife were missionaries in Guadeloupe, French West Indies under the West Indies Mission for 10 years, and in France for 32 years under Evangelical Baptist Mission. He was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, Waterloo where over the years he served as a greeter, an ABF teacher, and a deacon.

He is survived by a daughter, Crissie (David) Boyd of Veghel, Netherlands; a son, Randal (Lisa) Young of Waterloo, Iowa; five grandchildren: Daniel (Heather) Boyd of Bergen-op-Zoom, Netherlands, Mark (Leslie) Boyd of Neumarkt, Germany, Nathan (Rebekah) Boyd of Marion, Malorie Young of Waterloo, Jonathan Young of Waterloo, 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Keith (Donna) Young of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one sister, Betty Wilderbuer; and by three brothers: Gerry, Kenneth and Lester Young.
