Angela A. Angela

Biography--

Angela Angela Angela, 64, of Waterloo, died at UnityPoint Health ‑ Allen Hospital, on Thursday, March 24, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Angela was born on May 22, 1951, in Waterloo, the eldest child of the late Elias and Shirley (Harris) Grover.

She was enrolled in Waterloo Public School, and after graduating from Waterloo East High School, she became a diligent employee of John Deere Tractor Works. She retired from Deere in 2003.

Shortly after her retirement, she was diagnosed with cancer. Hearing such news did not destroy her confidence, instead it made her stronger. Angela took upon the challenge of the condition with unwavering courage and received cancer treatments from several places. She was a guest of the Russell and Gerdin American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Iowa City. There, she was an inspiration to the staff and other guests. Angela’s words were, “I control my cancer; it doesn’t control me!”

She refused to complain or feel sorry for herself. At the Hope Lodge, she uplifted others with her indestructible spirit to meet cancer head on. Each day she made the choice to live her life with enthusiasm and zeal as a result of her profound faith in God.

Angela enjoyed sharing her artistic talents with others through the creation of her custom-made cards. She had an amazing ability to design works of art that uniquely reflected a special occasion or an individual’s personality. Her creative flair was also expressed in her stylish selection of clothes and accessories.

Angela enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren Deshay, Setoria, and Tori, as well as special outings with her great-grandchildren, London, Paris, and Traylyn. She also enjoyed the company of her friends, and the people that she met weekly at bingo.

To the very end, she fought the good fight…her witty, “I will be me!” attitude will be greatly missed.

She leaves to cherish her life, her loving companion of many years, Benny Roberson of Waterloo; a son, Decharmus (Shelly) Grover, of Cincinnati, OH; a brother, Elias Grover of Waterloo; and two sisters: Adrienne (Sam) Smith of Waterloo and Krystal G. Webb of Chicago, IL; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Shirley Grover.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and host professed a good profession before many witnesses. –I Timothy 6:12

O death, where is thy sting? Oh grave, where is thy victory? – I Corinthians 15:55
