Lauretta Mae Cufr, 82, of Fairfield, formally of Waterloo, died Thursday, March 17th at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield, Iowa.

She was born February 18, 1934 in Chicago, daughter of John and Laura Lehman. She married Wesley C. Cufr November 4, 1950 in Elgin, IL. He died July 22, 2007.

Lauretta received her RN and served as a floor nurse at Covenant hospital until moving on to become a surgical assistant for an oral surgeon. She later earned a Masters Degree in Counseling and worked in the Chemical Dependency Department at Covenant Medical Center, retiring in 2008.

She is survived by three sons: Jerry (Tammy) of Evansdale, Ronnie (Yolanda) of Waterloo and Randy (Charlene) of Kernersville, N.C.; a daughter, Kathryn (Ric) Lange of Rolling Meadows, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a grandson.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, 1122 W. 11th Street, Waterloo with inurnment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 1 until 4 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty -Waychoff - Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

In May 2015, Lauretta moved in with her granddaughter, Sara and family in Fairfield. With them she enjoyed going on a cruise, bird watching and meeting people through volunteering at the assisted living facility as a reader to the residents.
