Linda Lee Galbraith

Biography--

Linda Lee Galbraith, age 62, died Thursday, March 3, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family following a six month battle with lung cancer.

She was born September 3, 1953, in West Union, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Juanita Brockway Petersen. Linda graduated from Cedar Falls High School with the Class of 1971 and the LPN program at Hawkeye Technical Institute in 1973. Linda was united in marriage with Michael Emery Galbraith on September 28, 1974 at First Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Linda began her nursing career at Allen Memorial Hospital. The couple relocated to Webster City and she worked at a skilled nursing facility there for several years. They later returned to Waterloo and Linda worked at Americana Health Care Center and retired from Covenant Medical Center in 2007.

She was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church, where she participated in many activities including prayer shawl, social concerns and Vacation Bible School. She was a long time member of her neighborhood Bible study and found peace and comfort in her daily early morning devotional time. Linda loved the outdoors, especially bird watching, gardening, camping, swimming and fishing. Most of all she treasured time spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Michael of Waterloo; two sons, Adam Michael (Stefanie) Galbraith of Hudson and Justin Lee (Melissa) Galbraith of Reinbeck; six grandchildren, Austin, Whitley, Morgan, Wyatt, Adalyn and Agustus; her father and stepmother, Donald (Norma Jean) Petersen of Waterloo; a brother, Bryan (Laura) Petersen of Traverse City, Michigan; and a sister, Kathy (Douglas) Folkers of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita in 1996 and her grandparents.

Services:
Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2211 Maynard Avenue in Waterloo

Visitation:
Public visitation will be held Monday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel and an hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the Church.
