Biography-

Bernadette Marie Fischels, 95, of Gilbertville, died Tuesday, March 1, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

She was born November 29, 1920, in Black Hawk County, the daughter of Walter T. and Elizabeth Weyland Weber. She married Gerald Thome on January 20, 1939 in Waterloo and he died February 16, 1952. She married Roman Henry Fischels on October 25, 1954, in Gilbertville and died October 10, 1986.

Bernadette was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Survivors include two sons, Lynn (Sharla) of La Porte City and Dean of Elk Run Heights; four daughters: Nancy (Mike) Rooff of Waterloo, Shirley (Lloyd) Welter of La Porte City, Jeanette (Nathan) Hoppes of Waterloo, and Marlene (David) Nosbisch of Waterloo; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchilden; a brother, Edward (Sharon) Weber of Waterloo; two sisters, Marcella Moore of Waterloo and Betty Moran of Elk Run Heights.

Preceded in death by six brothers: Jerry Weber, Donald Weber, Francis Weber, James Weber, Ray Weber, and Robert Weber in infancy; four sisters, Armella Immel, Dorothy Frost, Teresa Smith, and Lorraine Weber in infancy.

Services: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 5, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Public visitation from 3-8 P.M. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a 4 P.M. Catholic Order of Foresters rosary and a 7 P.M. Parish rosary. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
