December 30, 1918 - February 17, 2016

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Mildred B. Sloth, 97, of Cedar Falls died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

She was born December 30, 1918, in Fairfield Township, Iowa, daughter of John Taylor and Carrie M. (Petersen) Nielsen. She married Henry E. Sloth on February 28, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. He died December 1, 2003.

Mildred owned and operated a dance studio, was the Clerk for the City of Dike, and then was Secretary to the Superintendent at Dike High School. She had been actively involved with the Cedar Valley Danes, Danish Sisterhood, Dike American Legion Post 471 Auxiliary, Fredsville Historical Committee, and Yesterday Antique Club.

Mildred was survived by a daughter, Glenda (Larry) Muller of Ames; one grandson, Monty (Wendy) Muller; and two great-grandchildren, Caden and Avery Muller.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Virgil Nielsen; and four sisters: Harriet Parker, Hazel Schmidt, Iva Engel, and Carol Posekany.

Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Fredsville Lutheran Church, rural Cedar Falls, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.
