Biography--

LaVae Viola Hippen, 88, of Waterloo, died Friday, February 12, 2016 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born July 7, 1927 in Fairmont, MN the daughter of John Daniel and Anna Marie (Jergenson) Staley. She married Adolph F. Hippen on February 9, 1949 in Waterloo; he preceded her in death on March 5, 1994.

She was a homemaker. In 1954 LaVae received Christ as her Savior and was baptized in the Cedar River near Stout, Iowa.

Survived by: two sons, Timothy Hippen of Waterloo, Paul (Crescent) Hippen of Mason City; five daughters, Colleen Gates, Charlene (Marvin) Surly, Carlene Hippen, Teresa (Rodney) Siebrands all of Waterloo, Peggy Clowser of Lead, SD; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and one sister, Eldora Rathje of Cedar Rapids.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; two sons, Ronnie Dinzy and Michael Hippen; four sisters, Doris Howard, Rachael Bray, LaVerna Hoey, LaVonne O’Day and five brothers, Glenn, Melvin, Carlyle “Sonny”, Marvin and Everett “Mike” Staley.
