Biography--

Dorothy Mae Marquis, 91, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Unity Point Health Systems – Allen Hospital.

She was born July 2, 1924 in Waterloo, daughter of Oscar Herman and Leone A. Mergen Wolter. She married Robert Marquis on November 29,1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo.

She is survived by a daughter, Anne (Steve) Quinlan of Des Moines; a son John of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Michael and Kate, both of New York City, N.Y. and Tom of Lawrence, Kan.; two brothers, Bud (Pat) Wolter and Paul (Mary Lou) Wolter, both of Waterloo; and a sister, Mary Lou Sadler of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967 and a sister, Marguerite Kuenstling.

Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family, caring for her home that her husband built, and working in the yard. She was appreciated for being a good listener and having a great sense of humor. Special thanks to Dorothy’s caregivers, Bonnie and Therese, for their kind and dedicated care.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Public visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church.
