Donald LeRoy McKinney

October 22, 1943 - January 29, 2016

Donald LeRoy McKinney, 72, of Waterloo, died Friday, January 29, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

He was born October 22, 1943, in Cedar Falls, the son of Ward LeRoy and Shirley Jean Smith McKinney. He married Janice Puckett on September 9, 1965, in San Francisco, Calif.

Donald served in the United States Navy from 1961-1965 and was employed at John Deere until his retirement.

Survivors include: his wife, Janice of Waterloo; two sons, Don Jr. (Angie) of Evansdale and Jeff of Evansdale; four grandchildren, Nick (Sarah) Cole, Kelsey Blake, Nicole McKinney, and Autumn McKinney; three great grandchildren, Brayden Cole, Abby Cole, and Mason Christie; two brothers, Dave of Mississippi and Greg of Indiana; a sister, Denise Patterson of Ft. Worth, Texas.

Preceded in death by his son, Mark.

There will be no services. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is assisting the family.
