Thomas Joseph O'Connor

April 24, 1946 - January 26, 2016

Thomas Joseph O’Connor, 69, of Evansdale, Iowa, and formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 26 at his home, of natural causes.

He was born April 24, 1946, in Waterloo, son of Maurice and Mary Jane Webber O’Connor. He married Mary Hockey September 19, 1969 in Waterloo.

Thomas graduated from Columbus High School in 1964. He was employed with Alstadt & Langlas Bakery, retiring in 1997.

Survivors include: his wife; three sons: Ray, Tim and Maurice all of Waterloo; three daughters: Betty (Danny) O’Connor-Rindels and Regina O’Connor-Mora (Todd Hitchings), both of Evansdale and Julie (Randy) Wilson of Owatonna, Minn.; 28 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis and Kevin (Sharon) both of Waterloo; six sisters, Marilyn (Richard) Weber, Peggy (Rick) Mott and Maureen O’Connor all of Waterloo, Ann (Earl) Buller of Evansdale, Sr. Susan O’Connor, R.S.M. of Cedar Rapids and Cate (Rick) Grout of Riverside.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mike, and a granddaughter, Ashley Brunson-Reiser.

Services will be Friday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Public visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services at the church.
