Services:
Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 4031 Lafayette Road in Evansdale.

Cemetery:
Burial will be in the Waterloo Cemetery with full military honors accorded by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and the Iowa Army National Guard Honors Detail.

Biography--

Arnold I. “Arnie” Dahl, age 94, of Waterloo, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born August 20, 1921 in Hesper, Iowa the son of Bert and Caroline Stenkjaer Dahl. Arnold attended school in Mabel, Minnesota. Arnie was united in marriage with Violet “Vi” Florence Faa Asleson on July 30, 1947 in Mabel.

Arnie worked in the canning department at Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo for 32 years, retiring in 1984. Before coming to Waterloo, he was employed at John Deere & Co. in Dubuque and farmed. Arnie was a proud veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving as a radio operator during World War II.

Arnie was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evansdale and was an active church volunteer and a longtime member of Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. He liked landscaping, was fond of country western music and enjoyed playing the steel guitar. Arnie dearly loved his M and M’s and cookies.

Survivors include his wife, Violet “Vi” Dahl of Waterloo; five children, Keith (Roxanne) Asleson of Cedar Falls, Carolyn Peterson, Barbara (Craig) Cook, and Colleen Walker, all of Waterloo and Brian (Karin) Dahl of Leawood, KS; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patricia Toner; a son, Gerald Dahl; 5 brothers, Melvin, Maurice, Sverre, Berner and Hildus in infancy and a sister, Helen Selness.

Memorials:
May be directed to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale; Cedar Valley Hospice, Waterloo; Alzheimer’s Association; or the Wounded Warriors Project.
