Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel.

Cemetery:
Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, with full military honors accorded by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and the U.S. Air Force Honors Detail.

Biography--

Douglas “Doug” P. Puhl, 75, of Waterloo died at Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 of natural causes.

He was born on June 9, 1940 in Waterloo, the son of James and Mildred (Hildebrand) Puhl. He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1958. Doug served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1960.

Doug married Beverly Thompson on February 20, 1960 at First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. He worked at John Deere as a supervisor from 1960‑1993, retiring after 32 years. Doug was on the Waterloo School Board from 1975‑1980 and served as School Board president from 1979‑1980.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Puhl of Waterloo; a daughter, Renee (Steve) Miller of Blaine, MN; a granddaughter, Ashley (fiancé, Jeff Scottston) Miller; a grandson, U.S. Army Spc. Austin (Julia) Miller; and by three sisters and one brother.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and two sisters.
