Biography--

Lois L. Johnson, 83 of Waterloo, died Tuesday, January 12 at Manor Care Health Services.

She was born January 2, 1933, in Alpha, the daughter of Ralph and Bessie Wickham Pierce. She married Alvin Johnson in 1956 in Waterloo, and they were later divorced.

Lois was employed with Northwestern Bell, J.C. Penney, Warehouse Market and later was a house mom for the Black Hawks hockey team for 20 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Winter and Carolyn (Steve) Kapler both of Waterloo and Linda Johnson of Evansdale; nine grandchildren, Joe, Nora, Cody, Emily, Patrick, Michael, Sam, Alex and Oliver; four great-grandchildren, Lilly, Max, Veda and Finnian.

Preceded in death by six sisters, Dorothy Holub, Harriet Severi, Shirley Wims, Elaine Coontz, Donna Wagner, Norma Jarchow and two brothers, Clifford Pierce and Carlyle “Jake” Pierce.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

Lois enjoyed her family and friends, hockey, playing cards, cooking and baking and the occasional trip to the casino. She also played guitar, accordion and piano and was an avid Cubs and Bulls fan.
