July 19, 1915 - January 1, 2016

Irene Margaret Norte, 100, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Friday, January 1, 2016, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born July 19, 1915 in Fenton, Iowa, the daughter of August and Kathryn Thilges.

She married Virgil H. Norte in 1945 in Little Rock, Ark. He died April 20, 1978.

She was a seamstress at Hinson Manufacturing, and was a master gardener.

She is survived by a son, Bernard, of Owatonna, Minnesota; by two daughters, Barbara Scholl of Waterloo and Beverely (Steve) Frost of North Muskegon, Michigan; by seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and by three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Frank, Tony, Alex, Bernard and Clarence; a sister, Doloris; two sons, Byron and Bruce; a by a grandson, Jamie Scholl.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Public visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.

Memorials: directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
