Francis W. Langdale, 95, of Evansdale and formerly of Ottumwa, died at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center, on Sunday, November 1, 2015 of natural causes.
Francis was born on February 14, 1920 in Ottumwa, Iowa, son of Ralph and Marie Anderson Langdale.
He married Hazel R. Schiefelbein on April 14, 1943 in Waterloo; she died July 15, 2010.
He was a tractor mechanic at Brown Implement, Bader's, and Glen Jeffries retiring in the spring of 1980. He had also been a tape drill operator for Construction Machinery in Waterloo.
Francis was a man of faith and loved to read his Bible. He enjoyed being outdoors - especially camping. Rock collecting, whittling walking sticks, watching WWE wrestling, and spending mornings with his coffee/breakfast group were all important hobbies for Francis. He was skilled at working on and restoring old tractors. He also made it to BINGO quite often where he would collect oatmeal cream pies.
Francis was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Evansdale.
Survived by a son, Kevin Langdale of Evansdale; 8 grandchildren, Travis, Luke, Sue, Dawn, Denise, Steve, Brian, and Randy; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren, and a former daughter-in-law, Lori Miller of Waterloo.
Preceded in death by a son, Dennis; two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Melvin, Muriel, Wilma, Martha, Walt and a sister in infancy.
