Monday, November 23, 2015 at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, Evansdale Post 31, and US Navy Honors Detail.

Biography--

Robert Fourtner, 92, of Waterloo, died at Covenant Medical Center, on Monday, November 18, 2015.

Robert was born on April 25, 1923 in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Frank and Merle (Danner) Fourtner.

He married Bonnie Jean Michael on December 8, 1951 in Waterloo. She preceded him in death October 11, 2002.

Robert worked for Waterloo Water Works and Jens Olesen Construction before retiring in 1985. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1942-1947 in the Pacific and European theatres.

He is survived by two daughters, Terri (Jeff Moormann) Benson of Waterloo and Sandi Pemble of North Liberty; nine grandchildren: Scott Fourtner, Jodie Fourtner, Angie Fourtner, Matt Benson, Adam Benson, Travis Langdale, Luke Langdale, Breanna Pemble, and Brett Pemble; and three great‑grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Rick Fourtner; one brother, Richard Fourtner; and one grandson, Brian Benson.
