Dellrose “Rosie” Jakobsen was born on July 19, 1929, in Waterloo, the daughter of Floyd and Lucille Colvin. She grew up in Waterloo.

On October 7, 1944, Rosie was united in marriage to Gunner Jakobsen in Waverly. The couple made their home in Evansdale and Raymond. Rosie worked for Rath Packing Company for over 26 years. She was a strong, beautiful woman who went out of her way to care for her family, even at a young age.

Rosie enjoyed playing cards and loved to bake anything and everything, she was especially known for her bread, banana cream pie and her Dellrose Delight. She and Gunner loved to dance and they would show off their smooth moves whenever the moment allowed. Rosie loved her family, and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend. Rosie will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

Rosie passed away at the age of 86, on November 28, 2015.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gunner; her son Bob Jakobsen; three sisters: Barbara, Joann and Dixie; and a brother Bob Colvin.

She is survived by her two daughters: Linda (Mike) Schreurs of Johnston, and Kristina “Tina” (Dan) Langan of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a daughter-in-law Pam Jakobsen of Oviedo, Florida; and a brother Mike Colvin of Reno, Nevada.
