HUDSON — Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hudson United Methodist Church for Wayne L. Towsley 58, of Hudson who died at 9:20 p.m. Saturday at the Parkview Gardens Care Center of cancer. Friends may call at the Hudson Funeral Chapel from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and those who wish may contribute to the memorial fund of the Hudson United Methodist Church in his name. The casket will not be opened at the church. The Rev Harlan W. Winter; pastor of the church will officiate and burial will be in the Hudson Cemetery. Gibson-Mueller, Post 559 American Legion Post of Hudson will conduct a flag folding ceremony at the cemetery.

Mr. Towsley was born in Winslow on March 27, 1914, the son of Wayne N. and Mary Eberhart Towsley. He attended Finchford Schools and graduated from the New Hartford High School. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II and returned to Hudson in 1946 when he purchased the Towsley By-Lo Market which he owned and operated until 1972.

He married Alta Heinslman on Jan. 20, 1967 in Hudson. He was a member of the Hudson United Methodist Church, Gibson-Mueller Post No. 559 American Legion of Hudson, the Hudson Amvet Post no. 81, and the Hudson Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Towsley is survived by his wife, three sons: Ronald Dyer of Orange, Calif., Dennis Ray Towsley and Dennis Oswald Towsley, both at home; one brother, Vernon of Terrell, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Henze of 1504 Parker, Cedar Falls, and Mrs. Fritz Henze of New Hartford, and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
