June 18, 1925 - March 15, 2015

Martha J. Hum, 89, of Waterloo, died Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Ravenhood Nursing & Rehab in Waterloo. Martha was born June 18, 1925, in rural Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Alfons & Josephine (Schumacher) Hum. She was a dishwasher at the YMCA Grill and Morg’s Diner for many years.

Survivors include two brothers, Paul (Carol) Hum of Evansdale, Iowa and Carl (Lucille) Hum of Bessemer, Alabama; a sister, Frances (Ron) Ciesielski of Independence, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary (Willys) Benson; a sister in law, Sue Hum, three nieces, one nephew, and a great-nephew.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
