Athol "Ace" Rogers

July 4, 1939 - March 19, 2015

Athol “Ace” Hugh Rogers, 75, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

He was born July 4, 1939, in Cedar Falls, the son of Hugh and Elsie (Larson) Rogers. Ace married Jeanne Eastman at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, in 1975. They later renewed their vows at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo. He was a 1957 graduate of Northern University High School in Cedar Falls and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Ace worked as a pipe insulator for 10 years and then was an assembler at John Deere for many years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of UAW 838 and the Carpenter’s Union.

Ace is survived by his wife, Jeanne Rogers, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Ann (David) Snodgrass, of Dubuque, Iowa, and Angie Rogers of Waterloo; three sons, Scott Athol (Christie) Rogers of Shawnee, Kansas, Craig (Gina) Haan of Cedar Falls, and Darin (Meghan) Rogers of Waterloo; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Taylor, Nick, Madison, Andrew, Alex, Ben and Joey, and three sisters, Phyllis Tellinghuisen of Janesville, Wanda (Ed) McDowell and Karen (John) McCabe, both of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Ronnie Tellinghuisen.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo where military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, where there will be a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. Memorials may be directed to the family and Cedar Valley Hospice. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
