In Memory of Earl Elza Davis 1934 - 2015

NORTH BUENA VISTA, IOWA - Earl Davis, 81, of North Buena Vista, and formerly of Hudson, IA, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Kramer Funeral Home in Holy Cross. A memorial service and inurnment will be conducted at a later date.

Earl was born May 13, 1934, in Quasketon, Iowa, the son of Elza and Bessie (Goff) Davis. He married Beverly Jochumsen on March 5, 1955, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Together they lived in Waterloo for 10 years and bought an acreage near Hudson. He was a semi owner/operator, and also had a shop where he worked on trucks and outboard motors. They retired to North Buena Vista in 1998, where they helped operate JD’s Landing.

His greatest passions were flying, music, fishing, and boating. He would BS with anyone who would listen, especially about these activities.

Survivors include his 5 children: Sue Davis and Clay of Alexander, IA, Jim (Sue) Davis of North Buena Vista, Peg (Suntan) King of Garrison, IA, Mary King and special friend Garth of Waterloo, Mike (Melissa) Davis of Vinton, IA; grandchildren: Heath (Karla) Davis, Heidi Davis, Adam (Aime Hennegan) King, Aaron and Andrew King, Blake King, Bryce King, Holly (Adam) Greif, and Tyler Davis; 10 great grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Tony (Brenda) Jochumsen of Hudson, IA, and their sons, Jason and Gary Jochumsen; 2 sisters, Betty Theisen of Cole Camp, MO, and her 7 children, and Florence Eddy of Texas; a half-brother, John (Sandy) Livingston of Cedar Falls, 2 brothers-in-law, Chuck Willett and Chauncy Craig.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beverly, on June 2, 2015, a granddaughter, Paige Davis, a great grandson, Garrison Davis, 2 brothers-in-law, James Theisen and Loren Eddy; 2 sisters, Ethel Willett and Beverly Craig, and a niece, Rosemary Cooley.
