Biography--

Arthur D. W. "Art" Boyken, 81, of Waterloo, died at Covenant Medical Center, on Sunday, November 22, 2015 of natural causes.

Art was born on February 15, 1934 in Titonka, Iowa, the son of Fred and Martha Brandt Boyken.

He graduated from high school in San Leandro, California (San Francisco area); he had attended West Jr. in Waterloo.

Art served in the United States Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Art married Norma Priske on September 20, 1958 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Eldora.

He was an insurance salesman at Boyken Insurance over 40 years. He previously was a barber and had taught at the barber college in Cedar Rapids.

Art was member of St. Edward Catholic Church, "The Club" and Waterloo American Legion Post #138.

Survived by his wife, Norma Boyken, of Waterloo; two daughters, Bridget (John) Bunge of Waterloo and Shannon (Jerry) Rutter of Lakeville, MN; four grandchildren, Garrett and Gabrielle Bunge, and Madison and Morgan Rutter.

Preceded in death by three brothers: Don, Bob, and Russell Boyken; and two sisters, Lois Rainey and Mara Harrison.
