Visitation:
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 and also one hour before the service all at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel.

Cemetery:
Burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Biography--

Zelda Voncielle “Vonnie” Mathern, 97, of Waterloo, died Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Friendship Village Lakeview Lodge of natural causes. She was born June 11, 1917 in Gladbrook the daughter of William and Agnes (Hagen) Buck. She married Leland G. Mathern on January 24, 1937 in Marshalltown; he preceded her in death on May 7, 1982.

Vonnie worked a Rath Packing Company for 28 years in the sliced meat and canning department, retiring on January 1, 1976. She and her husband Pete loved camping, dancing and Big Band Music.

She is survived by a son, James (Diane Gatz) Mathern of Camdenton, MO; one granddaughter, Susie Kempf of Columbia, MO and two great grandchildren, Carly and Brooke Kempf of Columbia, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Cylestine Peterson and one grandson, Michael “Mike” Mathern.
