Biography--

Margaret J. Gardner, 86, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at the Martin Health Center of the Western Home Community, Monday, November 16, 2015.

Margaret was born March 29, 1929, in Fredericksburg, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie and Theresa Justen Shufelt. She graduated from Fredericksburg High School and UNI. She married Russell E. Gardner September 10, 1950 in Fredericksburg, he died September 8, 2014.

Margaret worked as a medical assistant for Doctors Albert Dolan and John Moes and for the Black Hawk County Medical Examiner. She was a sixty year member at First Presbyterian Church and served as an elder and member of Presbyterian Women and served with the Presbytery in several capacities. She was a member of Cedar Valley Chapter #128 O.E.S., a Mother Advisor for Rainbow Assembly #62, as Grand Deputy Advisor for Iowa Rainbow Assembly, and was active with the Kittrell School PTA.

She is survived by three daughters: Barbara (Robert) Priborsky of Port Charlotte, Florida; Linda (Scott) Peters of Shellsburg, Iowa; and Rebecca Gardner of Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Shelle (Danie) VanNiekerk of Ft Myers, Florida; Carrie (Gordie Bigus) Wibben of Chantilly, Florida; Benjamin Wibben, Okeechobee, Florida; Dara Davis of Portland, Oregon; Tim Davis of St. Louis; Dan Peters of Austin, Texas; Dave Peters of Portland, Oregon; three great grandchildren: Tyler Wibben and Emma Bigus, both of Chantilly, Florida, and Isabella VanNiekerk of Ft. Myers, Florida; sister Lois Denner of Waverly; a brother, Kenneth Shufelt of Des Moines, Iowa; and nieces and nephews: Dorinda Gardner of Valencia, Calif., Greg Gardner of Denver, Colorado, and Randy Denner and Patty Denner, both of Eldridge, Iowa.

She was a preceded in death by her husband and son in laws Allen R. Davis and Danny M. Lynch.
