Biography--

Gerald W. Hoeppner, age 75, of Waterloo, died Monday, August 31, 2015 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born August 13, 1940 in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Edward H. and Susan M. Burtch Hoeppner. Gerald was a US Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from August 6, 1963 until his honorable discharge on July 22, 1965. He was united in marriage with Josephine F. Newburn on August 17, 1968 in Waterloo. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2007.

Gerald worked for Cue’s Janitor Service, retiring in 1991. He was baptized at Cedarloo Church of Christ on August 25, 2015 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include a son, Steven (Latrina) Hoeppner of Waterloo; a daughter, Toni Hoeppner; seven grandchildren; four brothers: Ronnie of Minnesota, Roger of Waterloo, Timmy of Cedar Falls and Tommy of New Hartford; and a sister, Patricia Hoeppner of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Jimmy and Dick and a sister, Dorothy Goodwin.
