Biography--

Fred Zingg, 96, of Independence, died at West Village Care Center, Wednesday, October 14, 2015 of natural causes.

Fred was born on May 5, 1919, in Denver, Iowa, son of Newton Daniel and Ida (Klaassen) Zingg.

He graduated from a country school outside Denver.

Fred married Marie Alice Turner on January 24, 1945 in Janesville. She died August 30, 2012.

He worked on TV towers, bridges and roads as well as farmed across Iowa. Fred enjoyed fishing locally, but working in his garden growing vegetables was his passion.

Fred is survived by two sons, Gary (Sharon) Zingg of Otterville, Iowa, and Greg (Cindy) Zingg of Iowa Falls; daughter Gwen (Jim) Trebon, of Fairbank; son-in-law Richard Brown of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Kinney and Sarah Shannon, both of Independence; and brother Leonard (Lois) Zingg of Phoenix, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter Gail Brown; six brothers: John George, Clarence, Ervin, Orville and Donald; and three sisters: Grace Woolsey, Jeanette Price and Annie Frickson.
