Biography-

Alice Mae McGee, 77, of Waterloo, died at UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital, on Saturday, November 7, 2015.

Alice was born on May 27, 1938 in Goodman, Mississippi; the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Carr) Anderson. Alice graduated high school in Mississippi. She married John Henry McGee, Sr. on November 27, 1953 in Durant, Mississippi. He preceded her in death February 19, 2001.

Alice was a sweet and gentle person who loved her family and grandchildren. She opened her home up to people who needed somewhere to go and helped anybody in need. Alice worked as a housekeeper for the Ramada Inn before retiring in 1991. After retirement, Alice dedicated her life to homemaking and caring for family members who needed her love and support.

In fact, Alice ministered love and care to her own daughter, Gerilene; her husband, John Sr.,; and her son, John Jr., all who preceded her in death. She also cared for her son, Manzak, before succumbing to the same kind of illness that attacked her beloved family before her. She was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church in Waterloo and worked on the kitchen committee in the church.

Alice is survived by: three sons: Manzak McGee of Waterloo, Frank (Sonya) McGee of Michigan, and DeCarlos (Denise) Dixon of Waterloo; two daughters: Veronica (Abraham) McGee‑Funchess and Kemberley (Darryl) McGee‑Micou, both of Waterloo; 21 grandchildren; 37 great‑grandchildren; two brothers: Rev. Willie T. Anderson of Waterloo and Dean Landfair of Chicago, IL; special cousin, Annie Lee Anderson of Waterloo; special niece, JoElla Anderson of Aurora, CO; and three special sisters-in-law: Gertrude Wright of Jackson, TN, Earnestine Anderson of Aurora, CO, and Doris Anderson of Waterloo; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Alice McGee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son: John H. McGee, Jr.; one daughter: Gerilene McGee; two step‑children: Jerry D. McGee and Earsine Whitaker; one sister: Dorothy Wright‑Webster; two brothers: Joe Willie Anderson and John Elick Anderson; three sisters‑in‑law: Fredine Anderson, Emma Leonard, and Hazel McGee; and one brother-in-law: James McGee.
