Robert G. Beers, Jr.
June 5, 1939 - December 21, 2014
Robert G. Beers, Jr. was born June 5, 1939 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Robert and Carol (Carmer) Beers, Sr. He graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids with the class of 1956. Robert then joined the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge, Robert attended and graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Sociology and Psychology.
He was united in marriage to Diane Lange on April 26, 1969 at Scotch Grove Presbyterian Church, rural Scotch Grove, Iowa. Robert was a claims adjuster with Farm Bureau Insurance, retiring after 28 years of employment. He was a history buff and enjoyed watching and attending sporting events. Robert loved playing the guitar and bicycling.
Robert passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital at the age of 75.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert and his mother Carol.
Robert is survived by his step-mother Sara Spencer of Solon; his wife Diane of Waterloo; a son Damon (Jeannie) Beers of Des Moines; a grandson Trystan Beers; a brother Darwin Beers of Dubuque and two step-sisters: Nancy (Stephen) Anderson of Florida and Robin (Jeff) Ruzicka of Solon. Robert will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be directed the the Myeloma Foundation, AMerican Cancer Association or the American Heart Association.
