Crystal Ann Crowley was born February 15, 1969, in Cedar Falls, Iowa; daughter of William “Bill” and Sherry (Slater) Crowley. She was baptized on April 13, 1969 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora and was confirmed in middle school at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Crystal attended Orange Elementary School, Hoover Middle School and West High School graduating with the Class of 1987.

Throughout school, she participated in a variety of sports including softball, tennis and swim team; and performed in chorus and her true passion – drama club. After graduation she attended Iowa State University and worked for Century Link for nearly 18 years as an operator and information services where she was a valued and respected employee.

Crystal enjoyed time with her family especially travelling with her nephew, Eric Gleiter to Mount Rushmore, the Wisconsin Dells or the St. Louis Arch. She always said that she loved Eric like a son, but that as an aunt, she could spoil him and send him home.

Crystal passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home with her family by her side, at the age of 45. She was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; an uncle, James Crowley; and a cousin, Douglas Crowley. Crystal is survived by her parents, Bill and Sherry of Waterloo; sister, Carrie (Derek) Gleiter of Waterloo; nephew Eric Gleiter of Waterloo and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or to Zion Lutheran Church.

All are invited to join a luncheon following her memorial service at Zion Lutheran.
