Russell Bodecker, 77 of Evansdale died in his home on December 25, 2014 of natural causes.

He was born September 18, 1937 to Joe and Rose (Johnson) Bodecker. Russell entered the Air Force in 1954. He had many careers including Rath meat packaging plant and retired as a truck driver from CCC. He was a volunteer fire fighter in Evansdale for many years. He loved to tease kids and they all loved him. He loved to laugh and live everyday. Most of all he treasured time riding his motorcycle. Russell was a free spirit and loved by many.

Russell is survived by sons Carl Bodecker of England and John Sanders of Waterloo; daughter Tonya Bodecker of Nashua; brothers Jerry (Judy) Bodecker of Waterloo and Nordean Bodecker of Florida; sisters Sheridan Redfearn of Evansdale and Karen (Robert) Thompson of Texas; seven grandchildren: Camille, Josh, and Ben Bodecker; Brennen and Braydan Martin; Sofia and Tyler Sanders; great grandson Kobi Bodecker, and a special friend Diane Sanders.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rose Bodecker; a grandson, Brody Sanders and two special friends, Sandi Allen and Pat Balvanz.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life Party at the Evansdale AmVets Post 31 on January 10, 2015 at 3:00 pm. They request written memories of Russell in lieu of sympathy cards so they can still learn things they never knew about their dad.
