Eleonora W. Junker

April 1, 1920 to January 8, 2015

Eleonora Junker was born on April 1, 1920, in Bremer County, Iowa: the daughter of Henry and Caroline (Dreier) Riechmann. She was united in marriage to Herman Junker on May 10, 1945 at the Artesian Church, rural Bremer County; he preceded her in death on June 23, 1970. Together, Herman and Eleonora lived farmed from 1947 to 1950 in Greene. Then they farmed in New Hampton from 1950 to 1951. After selling their farm goods, Herman and Eleonora moved to Waterloo, and she went to work for a bakery after her youngest child started school.

Eleonora later worked for Means Industrial Services, where she retired. She was very proud of achieving her GED at the age of 67. Eleonora enjoyed sewing, quilting and baking pastries.

Eleonora passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015, at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital from natural causes at the age of 94.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and three brothers: Henry Riechmann, Alfred Riechmann and Ervin Riechmann.

Eleonora is survived by two sons: Richard Junker of Riverview, Florida, and Floyd Junker of Waterloo; two daughters: Ruth Riechmann of Palmetto, Florida, and Mary Hopkins of Waterloo; four grandchildren: Brian and Patrick Junker, Carolyn (Troy) Burrell and Eric Junker, and a brother, Werner Riechmann of Waterloo.
