Thelma Marie Johnson was born March 19, 1929, in Waterloo, daughter of Ernest and Esther (Huxsol) Schlorff. She was raised in Waterloo and graduated from West High School in 1946.

She married James “Jim” Johnson on July 12, 1959, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. Thelma worked for Waterloo Waste Paper Company, then Good Will Industries, where she was nominated employee of the month on several occasions, and finally John Deere Community Credit Union until her retirement in 2004. She enjoyed coins and reading.

Thelma passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015, at NorthCrest Specialty Care in Waterloo at the age of 85 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Johnson in 2003; and two brothers, Robert Schlorff and James Schlorff. Thelma is survived by her close friends Anne (J.) Schmitz of Waterloo.
