LaVonne E. “Bonnie” Nichols, 79, of Cedar Falls, died on Friday, February 27, 2015, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

She was born on September 16, 1935, in Waterloo, the daughter of Henry and Helen (Schroeder) Mixdorf. On February 11, 1960, Bonnie was united in marriage to John B. “Jack” Nichols in Waterloo. Jack died on January 15, 2005.

Bonnie is survived by a daughter, Ann (Tony) Carter of Swisher, Iowa; a son, David (Chris) Nichols of Overland Park, Kansas; four grandchildren, Spencer Carter, Gabi Carter, Alec Nichols and Olivia Nichols; and a sister, Jean (Dick) Gates of West Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers; and a sister.

Bonnie was an avid fan of Iowa State University athletics and enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sporting events. Upon Bonnie’s request, no black is to be worn to her service. The family asks everyone to wear her favorite color, blue.
