Della Mae Wikle Thiele was born November 3, 1930 in Marshalltown, Iowa: the daughter of George and Della (Bailey) Wikle. She graduated from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1948 and attended Allen Lutheran School of Nursing, graduating in 1951. Della was united in marriage to Donald Thiele at the EUB Church in Dysart on November 25, 1951; he preceded her in death on December 27, 1982. She was a nurse at Finley Hospital in Dubuque then at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, where she retired in 1995. Della was a member at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Della passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Allen Memorial Hospital at the age of 84. She is preceded in death by her parents. Della is survived by a son David (Christy) Thiele of Ankeny; 2 daughters: Denise Thiele of Waterloo and Diane Thiele (Mark Dodson) of Roswell, Georgia; 2 grandchildren: David (Stephanie) Thiele of Marion, Iowa and Chasity Thiele of Roswell, Georgia; 2 great-grandchildren: Lillian and Ethan; a sister Beth (Jack) Baden of Georgia and nieces and nephews.

Della will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorials may be directed to the family. Also, out of state, family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
