Obituary for Lillian A. Williams

Lillian Anderson Williams, age 87, died peacefully at the Martin’s Center in Cedar Falls, on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2015, from complications of Alzheimer’s. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 5, 1927 to Reverend Archer Edward Anderson and Lillian Kissling Anderson. She was the eldest of three daughters.

Lil graduated from Duluth Central High School in Duluth, Minnesota, in 1945. She attended Wheaton College, in Wheaton, Illinois, graduating in 1949. She taught elementary school in Duluth for a year following graduation, before marrying Dr. M. Neil Williams on June 15, 1950, whom she met at freshman orientation at Wheaton. They were married for 64 years.

She is survived by four sons: Steve (Chris) of Salt Lake, Robbin of Missoula, Mark (Julie) of Tucson, and Jeff of Boulder; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Neil; her sister Fran; her son Tom; a daughter-in-law, Shannon; and her granddaughter, Lindsey.

Starting in June of 1953, Lil and Neil served as a missionary medical team for many years and in many places -- Syria, Lebanon, Tanzania, Madagascar, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Honduras.

Memorial Services: Monday, July 6, 2015 at Nazareth Evangelical Lutheran Church at 11 AM. It will be a combined service to honor both Lil and Neil. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Western Home facilities for the many years of great care for our mom.
