Obituary for Michael E. Cavanaugh

Cedar Falls, Iowa – Michael Erwin Cavanaugh, 69, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Cedar Falls Health Care Center.

He was born June 2, 1945, in Waterloo, son of Erwin and Margaret (Buchanon) Cavanaugh. He attended Janesville Schools before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. On September 8, 1984, he married G. Jean Huffman in Waterloo. He worked for Warren Transport and Omega Cabinets as a truck driver and Blackhawk County Youth Detention Center as a transporter.

He is survived by his wife; two sisters, Sarah (Richard) Beckel of Janesville, and Barbara Jaspers; one brother, Bill (Judy) Jaspers of Cheyenne, WY; four step children, Susan (Howard) Swestka of La Porte City, Julie Pauley of St Paul, MN, Robin (Roman) Garcia of Chino, CA, and Chris (Carla) Huffman of Cedar Falls, seven step grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be 11:15am Friday, May 29, at Richardson Funeral Service, with visitation from 10am until service time. Military Honors at 11:30am provided by the Cedar Falls AMVETS post #49.
