Obituary for Anna C. Hobbs

Anna Caroline (Miller) Hobbs was born near Victor, Kansas, on April 4, 1913, to George Raymond and Emma Sophia (Klingbeil) Miller. She attended country schools through eighth grade and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1932.

On March 15, 1934, she married Clarence “Bud” Blaine Hobbs. To this union were born two daughters: Wanda Ann and Carolyn Jeanette. On October 23, 1939, Anna accepted the Lord as her personal Savior. Bud and Anna farmed their entire lives in Lincoln County, retiring in 1974.

Anna was very active in church and shared her faith with many children, as she taught Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School for many years at Beverly Community Church in Beverly, Kansas.

After retiring to Lincoln, Kansas in 1974, they spent many winters in Texas and Arizona. After Bud passed away on October 9, 2007, Anna moved to Cedar Falls to be near her daughter Carolyn and Carolyn’s husband, Jack. She resided within Western Home Communities- Walnut Court, Stanard Family Assisted Living Center, Thalman Square, Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center 2, and Nation Cottage.

On June 21, 2015, at the age of 102 years, Anna went Home to be with Jesus. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 ˝ years, Clarence; her parents; three brothers: Harold, Robert and Vernon; two sisters, Fay Sherrell and Helen Nelson; her granddaughter, Jeannie; four nephews; and one niece.

Thankful to God for the gift of sharing her life are her children Wanda Ann Stuart of Kapaa, Hawaii, and Carolyn (Jack) Haney of Cedar Falls, Iowa; five grandchildren; one great grandson; two great-great granddaughters; sister-in-law, Katheryn Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at the chapel of The Western Home, 420 E 11th Street, Cedar Falls, Iowa, on June 25, with visitation an hour before the service. Interment will be in the Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, Kansas, on Friday, June 26, at 10 a.m.

Memorials may be given to Mexican Baptist Gospel Outreach, 660 South Front Street, Salina, Kansas, 67401.
