Dr. John R. Moes (1930-2015)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Dr. John R. Moes, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Western Home Communities Thalman Square.

He was born October 25, 1930, in Galena, Illinois, son of Joseph A. and Julia M. (Lawlor) Moes. He married Patricia J. Brown on October 21, 1961 and they later divorced.

He graduated from Galena High School in 1947 and served in the US Army. He attended Loras College, and earned his BS and Doctorate degrees from the University of Iowa. He was a physician with Medical Associates in Waterloo.

He is survived by three sons: Paul (Molly Quinn) Moes of Cedar Falls; Matt (Kathleen) Moes of Swedesboro, NJ, and Tom Moes of Milwaukee, WI; a daughter, Margaret (Carlos) Zamora of Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren: Jacki Moes, Nicole Moes, Cassandra Hall, Alex and AJ Zamora and Simon Moes; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James “Gus” and Joseph “Joe” Moes.

Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 11, in the Dining room at Western Home Communities-Windcove, where there will be a celebration of life at 1p.m. His body has been deeded to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program.
