Charles Francis Murphy

August 6, 1928 - December 5, 2014

Charles Francis Murphy, 86, of Dike, Iowa, died Friday, December 5, 2014, at his home.

He was born August 6, 1928 in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of Cornelius J. and Emma Josephine Kauth Murphy.

He married Patricia L. Graves April 24, 1954, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Waterloo, Iowa.

Chuck served in Germany with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He farmed the family farm in Grundy County for many years.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Charles J. (JoAnn) of Reinbeck and David P. (Kathi) of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; four daughters, Kathryn A. (Curt) Juel of Dike, Barbara J. (Steve) VanderPol of Grundy Center, Carolyn S. Bolden and Janice M. (George) Weilein both of Cedar Falls; 15 grandchildren, Amy Juel, Megan (Seth Sharp) Juel, Rachael (Ekeoma Daniel) Juel, Michael (Kristen) Murphy, Jason Murphy, Lindsay Murphy, Tara (Matt) Bockes, Nicole VanderPol, Ellie VanderPol, Tyler Bolden, Erica Weilein, Alexa Weilein, Catherine Weilein, Elliott Bernhagen and Austin Murphy; six great grandchildren, Ella, Madeline, Nolan, Roman, Claire and Samson; a brother, Joseph C. (Adelaide) Murphy of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by; four sisters, Elizabeth A. Walbaum, Jane M. Johnson, Charlyne H. Pauley, and Helen L. Nardicchio.

Services will be on Tuesday, December 9 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Reinbeck.

Public visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 6 p.m. rosary .

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice – Grundy County or Grundy County Memorial hospital.
