Robert George Harris, 80, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Sunday, December 7, at Bickford Senior Assisted Living.
He was born September 16, 1934, in Bath, England, the son of Stanley F. and Kathleen Smith Harris. He married Marjorie Tupe Kolpek in May of 1984, in Waterloo.
Robert graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1952. He served in the United States Army in Korea and Japan and was employed with John Deere for 30 years, retiring in 1985. After retirement he was a tour guide for John Deere for 7 years.
Survivors include: his wife, Marjorie of Cedar Falls; a son, Scott Harris of Waterloo; four daughters, Kelly Harris, Heidi (Mark Biglione) McEntire, Tracy Harris all of Denver, Colorado, Denise (Garry) Bolhuis of Clarksville; a step-son, Todd (Cindy) Kolpek of Phoenix, Arizona; a step daughter, Tina Pint of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Walker McEntire, Morgan Mees, Denielle (Bret) Badker, and Glynna (Joel) Borwig; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: his parents; and a sister, Nina Smith.
Memorial Service: Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with entombment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery Columbarium. Full military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31. Public visitation from 4-8 P.M. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 P.M. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the church.
