S. Gary Tedore

March 26, 1941 - January 14, 2015

S. Gary Tedore, 73, of Elk Run Heights, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Rosewood Estates, Waterloo.

He was born March 26, 1941, in Waterloo, the son of Stephen F. and Laura Pagel Tedore. He married Judy Janovick on December 11, 1965, in Fulda Germany.

Gary served in the United States Air Force from 1964-1969. He taught Horticulture Science at Hawkeye Community College for 28 years and also helped establish Farmer’s Markets in Black Hawk County.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Elk Run Heights; five daughters: Jennifer (Larry) Clemen of Urbandale, Linda (Anthony) Davies of Sun Prairie, Wis, Carol (Dr. James) Sanders of Geneva, Ill, Diane (Tyrone Taylor) Tedore of Niles, Ill, and Mary (James) Creed of Chicago, Ill.; two sons, Scott (Carrie) Tedore of Dubuque and Tim Tedore of Mesa, Arizona; eight grandchildren: Andrew, Megan, and Jack Clemen, Peter and Natalie Davies, Madison and Kennedy Sanders, Bobby Tedore, and baby Creed expected in April; seven brothers, Craig (Jeanenne) Tedore of Waterford, Calif, Bill (Mary Cronin) Tedore of Waterloo, Tom (Jane) Tedore of Jesup, Robert (Trisha) Tedore of Modesto, Calif., David (Denise) Tedore of Cedar Falls, Rick (Janet) Tedore of Reinbeck and Jeff Tedore of Washburn; three sisters, Judy Suppus of Cedar Falls, Mary (Gene) Burry of Hudson, and Cindy (Steve) Kuehn of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Michael Tedore, Charles and James Tedore both in infancy.

Services: Monday, January 19, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial in Sancta Maria Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Full military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Nugent Demuth Post 714. Public visitation on Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 P.M. rosary and 7 P.M. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or the Bosco System.
