Leona L. “Toni” Johnson, 92, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 15, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

She was born November 15, 1922 in Gilbertville, Iowa, the daughter of John and Dora Youngblut Ahles. She married Arthur Johnson on August 19, 1939 in Waterloo. He died in 1994.

Toni was employed at Rath Packing Company for 34 years, retiring in 1984.

Survivors include two sons, William “Bill” Johnson of Montgomery, Alabama and Mark (Alyssa) Johnson of Waterloo; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Judy Rice and Linda Johnson; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Johnson; three sisters, Josephine Kayser, Marge Timion and Eulayla “Peg” Robbins; and four brothers, Francis “Red”, Vince, Paul and John “Jack” Ahles.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street with entombment in the Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Public visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, where there will be a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service, and for an hour before services on Monday.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
